Zippity Doo Dah...

Well, it's snowing! So a great morning to stay in and make my first triple zip pouch !
The Triple Zip Along can be found here on Flickr.
There are already a huge number of them finished in the Flickr pool.
It took me a while to pick fabrics, mostly because of my limited  zippers!
Well, that's not completely true....I have alot of zippers, but needed longer ones in order to change the colour of the pull tabs!
I used Thermolam Plus sew in fleece, because I didn't have any fusible. It worked just fine, and it clung to the fabric just as if it were fused.

I actually changed the plaid green to running stitch green!
You can find a fun tutorial for changing zipper pulls here
You can also find in the Tips and Tricks thread in the Flickr group.
They were pretty easy to do. I started with 12" zippers in order to have enough length when done. You can also switch up teeth if you want!!
On to the sewing...
I've put in zippers before, so I didn't have any problems with them.
I like to use 1/4" SteamASeam to secure the zipper to the fabric instead of pins. Fabric glue is also an option.
I used my 1/4" Evenfeed foot to sew everything, as suggested by Leanne
Worked like a charm too!

The whole thing took a couple of hours to do, which included opening up a seam because, like a total dunce, I forgot to open up my top zipper when sewing the side seams!!
Really....isn't that zippers 101!!!!!!!!!

A fun pouch to do.
Thanks Debbie for a great tutorial!
and for having the zip along
A great way to spend a morning!

oh this is so fun! Glad you enjoyed it all and am impressed about your zipper pulls - so how hard WAS that?! Great tip about the SteamASeam - can you shared that in the "tips" thread of the flickr group?

Looks great Patti! I started mine yesterday, and ran out of steam after putting the fabric tabs on the ends of the zippers! ha. I don't think that pouches is something I will ever enjoy doing. Maybe I'll finish it today...

I always hand baste zippers which works really well for me.

Good for you! Is it hard? I've chosen fabrics but that's it.

Lovely and bright! I've never done a single zip, so this is waaaaay out of my league!

It's really cute, Patti! I'm in awe of your zipper prowess…!

And what do we have to do to get a fusible fleece supplier 'round these parts? :-)

Ooh I made one last night but the colour change zip pull thing is news to me! Pretty prettiness!

This is a gorgeous pouch. On my jewellery rolls I once forgot to open a zip before trimming and cut off the top with the zip pull!

Love the pouch Patti and those zippers are just perfect!

Cute pouch.

I've done that with zippers too. Only I was too stubborn to unpick a seam and ended up eeking the zipper open from the wrong side.
